Cooksey Earns Four dotCOMM Awards Honoring Excellence in Web Creativity and Digital Communication

Cooksey Communications recently received three Platinum Awards and one Gold Award in the 2019 dotCOMM Awards, an international competition. This awards program is unique in that it spotlights the important role of creative professionals in constantly evolving web, social media and digital platforms.

The four awards highlight Cooksey’s diverse and successful experience in using growing digital public relations, marketing and advertising tools.

  • Platinum – Digital Marketing & Communications Campaign – Digital Advertising. Cooksey designed an eye-catching digital ad campaign promoting EltaMD Sun Care products as the “#1 Dermatologist-recommended Professional Sunscreen Brand.”
  • Platinum – Earned Media – Article or News Placement. As part of an overall media outreach strategy, Cooksey secured an online article and photo gallery in Cowboys & Indians magazine, “Cocktail Recipes: Texican Court’s Summer Poptails.” The retro-inspired Texican Court in Irving’s Las Colinas Urban Center premiered its popular summer poptails over Memorial Day weekend.
  • Platinum – Earned Media – Blog Placement. Cooksey provided insight for a blog post, “Why Corporate Social Responsibility Matters in Commercial Real Estate,” written for D CEO Magazine’s online, commercial real estate expert opinion site by Jackson-Shaw President and COO Michele Wheeler. The article addressed how corporate social responsibility should be woven thoughtfully into the fabric of every company and included three ways to engage internal teams.
  • Gold – Video – Marketing (Service). Cooksey showcased its significant experience handling high-stakes communications issues and projects for cities across Texas in a video shown at the 2019 Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) Annual Conference. The video was developed in-house by Cooksey’s talented Creative team.

The dotCOMM Awards are administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (www.amcpros.com). The international organization oversees awards and recognition programs, and honors outstanding achievement and service to the profession.

There were more than 2,000 entries from throughout the United States and many other countries in the dotCOMM Awards 2019 competition. Only about 14% of entries won Platinum, the top award, and around 15% earned the Gold award. Approximately 5% were Honorable Mention winners.

  • Platinum Winner – Social Media Marketing Category – “Still Stuck in Tarrant Traffic” Campaign. Engaged by the 35W Coalition and the Tarrant Regional Transportation Coalition, Cooksey created an advocacy campaign to urge Texas lawmakers and transportation leaders to properly fund a portion of the North Tarrant Express Project. This ultimately successful campaign involved social media, advertising and community engagement.
  • Platinum Winner – Website Category – Cooksey Communications. Cooksey redesigned its website (CookseyPR.com), creating a fully responsive web platform that showcases the firm’s sophisticated digital and traditional marketing services. The state-of-the-art site serves as an example of Cooksey’s in-house creative and web-based capabilities, and represents a significant upgrade to the previous-generation site.
  • Gold Winner – Microsite Category – Freeport Harbor Channel Improvement Project. A key component of an overall community education strategy, the microsite explained the logistics and impact of the Freeport Harbor Channel Improvement Project and provided information about the related bond package, which voters approved in May 2018.
  • Gold Winner – Content Marketing Category – Industry Influencer. Cooksey helped Diane Butler with Butler Advisers draft a blog for D CEO Real Estate titled, “It Takes Just a Few Swings to Shatter the Glass Ceiling.” The key message was that learning to play golf can go a long way for women in the business world.

Cooksey Communications Earns Six Hermes Awards in International Creative Competition

DALLAS – May 10, 2021 – Cooksey Communications recently received three Platinum and three Gold honors in the 2021 Hermes Creative Awards, a prestigious international creative competition. There were about 6,000 entries from across the globe in the 2021 competition, with about 15% of entries winning Platinum, the top award, and around 20% the Gold Award. Approximately 10% were Honorable Mention winners.

The six awards highlight Cooksey’s diverse and successful experience in strategic communications, market assessment, media relations, creative design and more:

PLATINUM 

  • Brochure (Print Media/Publications) – Capview Partners: Cooksey designed and produced a “Capview Residential Income-Fund VII, LP” brochure for Capview Partners. The 12-page brochure featured captivating graphics, photography and copy to help promote the company’s new financial product launch.
  • Magazine Ad (Print Media/Advertising) – City of Anna: Cooksey designed Anna Economic Development Corporation’s magazine ad, “Big Dreams are Built Here.” It highlighted the city’s opportunity for growth and its projected upward trajectory. This ad was created after Cooksey performed an in-depth communications audit, redesigned the Corporation’s logo and implemented a new tagline, “Groundbreaking Possibilities,” late last year.
  • Communication/Marketing Plan (Public Relations/Communications/Strategic Programs) – Irving Economic Development Partnership: Cooksey performed a comprehensive audit of Irving Economic Development Partnership’s marketing and communications program, benchmarked its efforts and resources against those of peer cities, and conducted a work session among stakeholders.

Based on this research, Cooksey developed strategic recommendations that focus on reaching the Partnership’s key target industries and enhancing its regional brand awareness.

GOLD

  • Video (Electronic Media/Social Media/Interactive Media) – City of Mesquite: Cooksey created a video, “Be the Change You Want in this World,” for the City of Mesquite. This police recruitment video incorporated photography from Mesquite’s police force and community, and was used for the City’s public safety campaign and social media.
  • Online Placement (Public Relations/Communications/Media Relations) – Credit Union of Texas: Cooksey secured a story and facilitated an interview with The Dallas Morning News for Credit Union of Texas’ (CUTX) new, student-run SMART Branch at Allen High School in Allen, Texas. The story, “A Student-Run Bank Has Opened Inside Allen High School,” published in February and featured two student bank tellers and a conversation with CUTX Chief Community Engagement Officer Jennifer Olvera.
  • Online Placement (Public Relations/Communications/Media Relations) – The Real Estate Council (TREC): Cooksey facilitated an interview between TREC’s Senior Director of Community Investment, Felicia Pierson, and the Dallas Free Press. The article, “‘Transformational’ news on South Dallas’ historic Forest Theater coming in February,” discussed TREC’s collaboration on the revitalization of the Forest District, one of Dallas’ most historically underserved neighborhoods.

The Hermes Creative Awards, administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, honor creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional and emerging media. Judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.

Cooksey Communications Earns Communitas Award for Work with Bell Fort Worth Alliance Air Show

DALLAS – April 8, 2020 Cooksey Communications recently earned a 2020 Communitas Award for “Excellence In Community Service – Leadership in Organization” for its work with the Bell Fort Worth Alliance Air Show. Communitas Awards recognize exceptional businesses, organizations and individuals for excellence in community service and corporate social responsibility.

The Bell Fort Worth Alliance Air Show is one of the largest, longest-running and most successful civilian air shows in the nation, attracting more than 120,000 attendees annually. Since 2015, Cooksey has worked with Alliance Air Productions, a 501(c)(3) organization and producer of the air show. Alliance Air Productions is a subsidiary of Hillwood, the developer of the 26,000-acre AllianceTexas project that is home to Fort Worth Alliance Airport.

Cooksey’s responsibilities for the annual event include creative development, collateral materials, marketing, advertising (print, television, radio, outdoor, digital and social), audience engagement, social media and media outreach.

The Communitas Awards is an international effort to recognize the spirit of Communitas – people helping people. Cooksey created an integrated marketing campaign for Alliance Air Productions, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and producer of the popular air show that takes place annually at Fort Worth Alliance Airport. This campaign included website content; digital creative, fulfillment and advertising; social media content for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram; and 12 eblast promotions.
  • Web Short-Form Video Production – Platinum Award: Cooksey Communications.   • Website – Professional Services: Gabriel, Roeder, Smith & Company. Cooksey worked with GRS, a national actuarial and benefits consulting firm, to update and refresh its website. This included creating a new user experience; organizing content strategically; enhancing the design, photography and graphics; incorporating social media; and using a content management system that makes updating easy.
  • Advertising Campaign – Radio and Television Commercials: 2019 Bell Fort Worth Alliance Air Show. Cooksey oversaw production, creative and content for four radio commercials and two television commercials for Alliance Air Productions, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and producer of the popular air show that takes place annually at Fort Worth Alliance Airport. The radio commercials were broadcast by seven stations across North Texas, and the television commercials ran on ABC WFAA-TV.

The international organization consists of several thousand production, marketing, communication, advertising, public relations and freelance professionals. Cooksey Communications recently received three Platinum and three Gold honors in the 2019 MarCom Creative Awards, a prestigious international marketing and communication competition. The six awards highlight Cooksey’s diverse and successful experience in strategic communications, creative design, media relations and more. Platinum honors, the top award, are reserved for only about 15% of entries worldwide!

PLATINUM 

  • Strategic Communications (Research/Study) – City of Georgetown. Cooksey performed a comprehensive audit of the City’s communications program, benchmarked its efforts and resources against peer cities, conducted interviews and focus groups, and helped the City develop and analyze a survey gauging resident feedback. Based on this research, Cooksey developed strategic recommendations to enhance public engagement and incorporate best-in-class communications techniques.
  • Print Media (Design) – TREC (The Real Estate Council). Cooksey was honored for its design of the TREC FightNight invitation and creative suite of collateral. FightNight has grown into one of North Texas’ largest philanthropic events.
  • Print Media (Magazine) – Hillwood. Cooksey was recognized for its planning, writing and design of the 32-page, four-color magazine produced for the 30th anniversary of AllianceTexas, a development of Hillwood.

  • Media Relations/Publicity (Online Placement) – Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP – Dallas. Cooksey was recognized for its writing and placement of an article entitled “Remember The 5 D’s of Dodgeball – Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive And Donate” in Texas Lawbook. The article was bylined by David Gail, a Dallas-based partner in Weil’s Corporate department.
  • Media Relations/Publicity (Magazine Placement). Cooksey contributed to development of an article in DCEO Magazine titled “Irving’s Next Act.” This six-page article featured two of Cooksey’s clients, Toyota Music Factory and Texican Court.
